Descendants of Manuel P. Calo, Jr.
Manuel, Jr or "Eti" died of cassava poison at 7 years old when the family took to the mountains of Cebu during World War 2. While McArthur and the allied fleet were fighting it out with the Japanese in the Leyte Gulf to fulfill his "I shall return" promise, the family fought a battle of its own trying to save Eti. Lolo Awe, more than anyone in the family, grieved so much over his favorite son's death that he was still in mourning even when the family moved back to Butuan in the 1950s. Anhing Eti's remains were brought home soon after. It now lay side by side with the remains of Lolo Awe and Lola Nitang in the Calo- Maano family mausoleom in San Vicente Memorial Park, Bancasi, Butuan City.
